### Notes and Homework From Thursday, December 6.

Hi Guys,

Sorry things are taking too long to post. If you are having trouble viewing the videos please let me know and save me the pain of trying to post them.

On Thursday night I finished off Chapter 6 - it was more on factoring.

The homework is:

6.2 Page366: 1-6 all, 11, 12, 21

6.1 Page 360: 31, 32, 35, 41, 42

6.3 Page 374: 1, 2, 3, 5, 11

6.4 Page 379: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7

6.5 Page 391: 1, 2, 5, 11, 13, 35

I'm going to try to get all the notes posted this weekend.

I also passed out the study guide for the next test. I left copies with Judy in the CTC office on Foster (down at the end of the hall on the left if you keep walking straight past the classroom) for those of you who are absent. If you can't make it to the office by Tuesday I will give you your copy in class. Or you can email me and I can try to scan you a copy, but your primary focus over the weekend should be trying to learn as much as possible from the notes online, and trying not to get too far behind on the homework.

The test date is next Thursday December 13.

The test will cover material from Chapters 5 and 6. This homework is the last homework assignment, and the material covered on Thursday is the last bit of new material that will be on the test.

Next week my plan is this:

Tuesday I will cover a few topics that will significantly help you in college algebra, but that won't be on the test. Then I will do a test review and answer any questions I need to answer to get those of you that were absent this week caught up.

Thursday will be the test.

Hi Everyone,

I tried to keep class short today since I knew I would have to post everything online too, and I wasn't sure if I would be able to get all the notes up. I covered sections 5.6 and 6.1.

The homework was as follows:

5.6 pg 341: 13-18 all

6.1 pg 360: 3, 6, 7, 17, 20, 23, 24, 29, 30

Section 5.6 was the section talking about polynomial division. The homework is over diving a polynomial by a binomial. The book teaches you to use long division. I prefer using synthetic division because it is easier. I suggest ignoring the book and doing it my way, but that's your choice. I will use synthetic division in the examples below:

I forgot to mention that every time you multiply, you write the number above the line, and every time you add, you write the number below the line.

Synthetic Division: Example 2

These videos are taking a LONG time to load on the page (over an hour for this one) so I will be posting them SLOWLY over the next few days. I may have to limit the number of examples I show you. Keep checking back!!
